Julie Stoneman, Program Director
Julie Stoneman joined Kuntzsch Business Services in September 2008 as the Associate Director for Heart of the Lakes Center for Land Conservation Policy. Julie is responsible for developing and implementing programs to strengthen land conservancies throughout the state. A key component of her position is management of the Advancing Conservancy Excellence project, a three-year partnership program with the Land Trust Alliance. Julie brings a wealth of experience to her work at KBS with over 20 years of nonprofit leadership and management in the conservation field, specializing in public education and policy development on land conservation, land use, waste management and natural resource issues at local, regional, and the state level.
Prior to joining KBS, Julie was Executive Director of the Land Conservancy of West Michigan (LCWM) for eight years, a nonprofit land conservancy serving eight counties in central West Michigan Previous positions include Director of Land Programs for the Michigan Environmental Council, a Lansing-based coalition of over 50 environmental and conservation groups, and Land Programs Director for the West Michigan Environmental Action Council.
Julie has been an advisor to major state initiatives such as the Michigan State University Land Use Forum, the Michigan Society of Planning Officials’ Trend Future Analysis Project, the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments’ Statewide Fiscal Impact Study, the Metropolitan Development Blueprint for the Grand Valley Metropolitan Council, People and Land, and the West Michigan Strategic Alliance’s Common Framework. She is an alumna of Leadership Grand Rapids and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources’ Natural Resources and Environmental Leadership Institute and has served on numerous nonprofit boards, including the Heart of the Lakes Center for Land Conservation Policy as a founding board member. She is a graduate of Lawrence University.
